A US FDA Agent is responsible for ensuring that food, drugs, and cosmetics are manufactured, stored and handled in such a way that they do not pose a threat to public health.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is an agency of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, one of the United States federal executive departments.
The FDA is responsible for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation of food safety, tobacco products, dietary supplements, prescription and over-the-counter pharmaceutical drugs, vaccines and biopharmaceuticals, blood transfusions, medical devices and radiation emitting products.
The FDA also enforces other laws relating to food adulteration, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, television advertising and tobacco products.
The FDA also has regulations and guidance documents for the cosmetic industry. These include requirements for labeling, packaging and shipping containers, registration of cosmetic manufacturers with the FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN), and registration of cosmetic distributors with CFSAN.
